As baseball star Justin Verlander prepares for the World Series, one of the biggest annual events in the sport, rumours abound that he has been dating American model and actress Kate Upton.

They promoted a video game together, and were seen hanging out - but the real confirmation had to come from Justin's grandfather when American media tooked him up for an interview.

So who is this lucky lady who is very much a star in her own right?

Besides getting some limelight as a cover girl magazine, Kate has been the subject of controversy over her figure. Critics call her fat, while supporters praise her for being "full-bodied" refusing to diet to "unhealthy" levels of slimness.
